What are the pros and cons of an APPLE Computer?

I am looking to upgrade to a new computer next year and all my friends tell me I should switch to a MAC. I now that they are less susceptible to viruses, etc. Besides this, what makes it a better choice over a Windows PC? I am wondering if there will be a problem transferring the content from my WINDOWS PC to the MAC Computer.I am not a techie so I apologize in advance if I sound ignorant on this question Thanks for any info.
