Could Apes form a society like ours given enough time?

If you believe in evolution, of course primates could form a society like ours, it happened once after all. It could happen again, but not anytime soon. No amount of teaching can overcome the fact that no apes have even close to the mental equipment needed for that kind of intelligence, and if by some chance they do evolve it, it wont be for many thousands of years.
