How should I feed my new Black Moor Goldfish and what is the lifespan for it?

I just recently bought it yesterday and I'm not sure much about it. I put it inside a 1 gallon fish bowl until later today so I can get a bigger one. The guy at Pet Smart said it would be best inside a bigger one so I will do what he said.
