Are Chinese Foo dogs good pets?

Im thinking of getting a puppy and originally wanted a chow chow. But I heard chows are quite hard to train and quite unfriendly with strangers. Chinese Foo dogs look similar to chow chows, but what about their temperament? Are they friendly? Does anyone own one and can give me advice please? Also Im from Ireland, would anyone know of any good breeders? I know these dogs are quite rare.
