Will use aluminum as a conducter possible dangerous?

ok on my inspiron 15 obviously the battery died ive looked around the net and this is typical for a dell inspiron 15 batter and i only had it for 6 months anyways now its a desktop basically and the power cord is very easy to become disconnected i tried warping a piece of metal to fit around however it proved very difficult..i thought of aluminum and i was able to very easily fit it around the metal of the power cord my concern is that it could be dangerous for my computer but i don't see any danger anyone have any suggestions i tried plugging it in un plugged for the wall outlet and it fits nice and snug any suggestion would be really help full
