Why did these guys do that?

Okay, so friend invited this one guy ice skating who invited a couple friends. I've never met them but whatever. Soo, when they got there, and were talking about pretty out-going guys who have a lot of girls that like them and can pretty much get who they want. That being said, when they get there, they skated right past us, and then just stood the rest of the time at the end of the rink. Soo, me and me friend were like okkayy then? So we ingored them cause we don't want to look like fools and approach them if they are ignoring us because we had already said hi and they're were acting all weird idk like they didn't want to hold a conversation. And there were no girls there that they were meeting! Alls that they did they whole time was stare at us while we went and skated around with other people! It was so weird. like why would they show up to come hang out with us and then act all shy and not even skate? Then just stare at us. They were makign a concious effort to not appoach us when my friend invite them. Can anyone explain this to me cause i'm sooo confused! For reference we are all fourteen.
