If i have a toshiba with a web cam, How do I video chat with others that have macs on aim?

When i vc with people i can only see myself and I cant see them or hear them. Video chatting only worked once for me on aim? I seriously need to know how i can video chat with people who have macbooks on aim? best answer gets the most points/ extra points!
