Does using mouthwash inhibit healing after wisdom tooth extraction?

My dentist told me i could start using mouthwash to rid of the odor that comes from the extraction site on friday? I was wondering if it inhibits healing ? ive read many things from both sides of it helping or not.... which one is it???
